Is my account
protected against market volatility?
No, the Securities Investor Protection
Corporation (SIPC) will only protect a customer's securities and funds if the
brokerage firm fails, and does not protect against a decline in the market
value of customers' funds or securities. Additionally, investors should be
aware that investments are subject to market risk; accordingly, neither CCII
nor Pershing, LLC can protect against losses that may occur from market
volatility and/or changes in the market value of investments.
What is a
broker-dealer?
Any individual or firm in the business
of buying and selling securities for itself and others. Broker-dealers must
register with the SEC and are also members of the NASD and SIPC. When acting as
a broker, a broker-dealer executes orders on behalf of his/her client. When
acting as a dealer, a broker-dealer executes trades for his/her firm's own
account. Securities bought for the firm's own account may be sold to clients or
other firms, or become a part of the firm's holdings.
What is a clearing
firm?
A clearing firm is an organization that
works with the exchanges to handle confirmation, delivery and settlement of
transactions. Such corporations play a key role in ensuring that executed
trades are settled within a specified period of time and in an efficient
manner. They are also called a clearing corporation or clearing house.
Does CCII handle
the execution of my trades directly?
No, execution and clearing support for
CCII is performed by Pershing, LLC, a subsidiary of The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation. For more than half a century, the Pershing name has been
synonymous with high-quality trade executions. Pershing processes over 600,000
trades daily and is repeatedly ranked #1 for U.S. government securities
clearance.
How does CCII
safeguard my privacy and confidentiality?
Safeguarding your privacy is a high
priority for CCII. We have stringent confidentiality policies in place and have
implemented strict technological security to ensure the integrity and safety of
our clients' data.
Is there a minimum
amount I need to invest to open an account?
There is no minimum amount needed to
open an account with CCII; however, certain ProCash Plus Accounts require
minimum balances to open and maintain.
How can I purchase
investments?
Once you open an account and
entitlement is obtained, you will receive a user id and password for Net-Ex
Client, a Pershing site. Purchase and sale orders may be placed on-line through
Net-Ex Client. Orders may also be placed over the telephone or in person with
the broker of record.
When does an
investment purchase need to be paid for?
Orders will not be processed until your
account has the necessary funds available to cover the order. If you have
signed a margin agreement, you may utilize margin financing for any shortfall
in available funds to effect the purchase.
How soon after an
investment sale will I have access to the proceeds?
Settlement in most stock and bond
transactions is Trade Date plus three business days.
